Imagine standing in front of a person for whom you don’t have to pretend anything, you don’t have to be more or less, you don’t feel fear, hostility, jealousy, or anything that makes you uncomfortable. You don’t have to win trophies for them to be noticed, you don’t have to be perfect to be accepted, they’re not the victim and you’re the rescuer, you don’t have to explain everything, you don’t have to justify everything. You feel their strength, therefore, without feeling the need to demonstrate it, you feel safety, trust, and acceptance. Imagine what happens inside, standing in front of such a person, when you don’t have to be anything else then you truly are. You can be naive, spontaneous, do everything without any apparent meaning, be a fool, someone who feels more than think, laughs, cries, is moved, expresses themselves, dances towards them with the courage of a child. Imagine being yourself in front of this person.

What happens when you realize the other person is your reflection? Will you believe it’s you? Will you start to defend yourself? Will you look around? Or will you smile? Will you be amazed? Will you sigh deeply in admiration? When you dare to smile in admiration, in this encounter you see not your own reflection, but the reflection of something much larger than yourself. You don’t hold onto this moment, you don’t try to hide it, to rewind it—you let it go like a wave, a gust of wind, a falling drop. You let it go, so it’s only a second that lasts forever.
